OBMedical Company Announces LABORVIEW® now available for Hospitals using Philips Fetal Monitoring Equipment

Newberry, Florida—April 14, 2017 – OBMedical Company, a leader in external maternal-fetal monitoring systems for laboring women, is pleased to announce that our LABORVIEW electronic fetal monitoring system is now compatible with legacy fetal monitoring equipment in almost all US hospitals.

LABORVIEW is an advanced wireless maternal-fetal monitoring system for at-term laboring women with a single baby. LABORVIEW works non-invasively via surface electrodes on the maternal abdomen to measure both maternal and fetal heart rate as well as contractions.

“We have been very pleased with the response to LABORVIEW from our customers using Philips Avalon equipment over the past several months,” said OBMedical CEO Mark Samuels. “Labor and delivery professionals using LABORVIEW are finding that it is much more convenient for both nurses and laboring women.” The FDA-cleared LABORVIEW system is placed on the mother’s abdomen and wirelessly interfaces to most commonly-used existing maternal-fetal monitoring units. The wireless feature allows mom to move freely around the room and monitoring is completely non-invasive.

Unaffected by maternal BMI, LABORVIEW is an excellent option for monitoring obese patients.
A 2014 study sponsored by OBMedical demonstrated that LABORVIEW provides a more reliable interpretation of uterine activity than TOCO and more accurately reports fetal heart rate than ultrasound. Additionally, patients reported improved comfort compared to standard belts.

Kevin O’Connor, VP of Sales and Marketing, notes that “with LABORVIEW, healthcare professionals can focus on nursing the mom not the monitor.” O’Connor further indicated that LABORVIEW is the only logical choice for hospitals using either GE or Philips fetal monitors”.
